Starting in 2007, Tufts School of Medicine will help students
prepare for medical school by offering a 12-month master’s degree in biomedical
science, covering the same biomedical material as the first year of med school.

Faculty in Arts, Sciences, and Engineering will now be required
to report academic dishonesty to the Dean of Student Affairs. A new online
program available to AS&E faculty will make it easier to detect plagiarism

The Fletcher School will offer a one-year master’s degree
program in Abu Dhabi if negotiations between the school and the Abu Dhabi Education

SCIENCE OUTREACH
Gap Junction, a program that brings
hands-on science education to middle schoolers in central Massachusetts, has
garnered Worcester’s UniverCity Partnership Award. The program is run by students
at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts. full story
INCLUSIVE POLICY
Tufts has broadened its nondiscrimination policy by including
new language that protects people regardless of gender identity or expression.
The language expands the categories protected in the general anti-discrimination
policy, which includes race, religion, and sexual orientation.

Shelby Steele, the conservative race theorist, delivered the fifth
Richard E. Snyder President’s Lecture September 26 on the topic “White Guilt:
Why Americans Can’t Solve the Race Problem or Win Wars.” He blamed white guilt
on a postwar “vacuum

The first Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy symposium, “Dietary
Guidelines 2010: The Right Stuff,” held
in September, drew researchers from as far away as Taiwan. The forthcoming

Nobel Biocare of Sweden, the world’s largest manufacturer of dental implants,
has awarded $4 million to Tufts School of Dental Medicine. The gift will allow
