of London, which rated it fifty-third on a list of two hundred leading

MATH BOOSTERS The Poincaré Institute at Tufts, launched with a $9 million federal grant, aims to improve math education for middle schoolers. It will prepare “knowledgeable, enthusiastic, confident middle school mathematics teachers,” says Montserrat Teixidor-i-Bigas, the principal investigator from Tufts on the project. DEAN TO RETIRE Lonnie H. Norris, who led a $68 million expansion of the School of Dental Medicine, will step down in 2011 after fifteen years at the helm. HEALTH COSTS Spending more money on patient care doesn’t always translate into better outcomes, according to a study by the Tufts physician Michael Rothberg. BACK TO CLASS Rob Hollister, who has led the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service for a decade, will return to teaching in the School of Arts and Sciences.
