Equestrian team ranks among the top
The Tufts equestrian team performed among the top teams in the
country at the 2000 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA)
National Championship, May 12-14, at the Georgia International Horse
Park in Conyers. The brightest of several highlights by Tufts riders
was sophomore Hally Phillips, winning the Cacchione Cup, the most
prestigious award of the IHSA competition. "I was just hoping
to be in the top ten," she told Chronicle of the Horse magazine.
Women's softball advances to College World Series
The Tufts softball team had a taste of the national spotlight last
spring when it was one of eight teams in the country to advance
to the College World Series in Salem, Virginia, May 18-22. Head
coach Kris Herman's team earned a ticket to Salem by winning the
NCAA New England Region title over two-time defending champion Bridgewater
State. Tufts lost to Chapman University from California in their
first game at the World Series, 9-0. They were then eliminated by
Alma College from Michigan.
